Finance Litigation

The UK’s financial services sector is rapidly evolving and our Finance Litigation team has the flexibility and depth of resource to address any size of matter from portfolio test cases and complex fraud investigations to individual customer claims involving banks, asset based lenders and other credit providers.

We work alongside in-house counsel, customer service and distressed lending teams using our knowledge of a client’s objectives, together with the importance of their regulatory obligations and brand, to drive a pragmatic and commercial approach.

Our first aim is to avoid disputes escalating, managing risk and cost whilst promoting, where appropriate, the continuation of the relationship between our clients and their customers.

Between our English and Scottish teams we deliver a seamless service to a significant number of the UK’s leading financial institutions, recognising that a contentious issue will often have cross border impact and require a multi-jurisdictional solution.

Our core areas of expertise include operational disputes; fraud and professional indemnity claims; commercial recoveries; and consumer finance. Also key is our ability to analyse trends across products, lending portfolios and processes, using this knowledge to advise on dispute prevention strategies and the assessment of the wider commercial implications of any issue.

The team’s expertise is routinely combined with our wider Corporate Recovery services to defuse potential disputes and facilitate turnaround, managed exit and formal insolvency strategies.
